3 words for a business model evolution.

What amazed me when I first saw a REPRAP machine, in Paris at the /tmp/lab which is a avant-garde hackerspace, is the SHARING possibilities : the blueprint of the machine is public !

The OBJECTS can also follow the same idea : the blueprints can be public.

While everybody could have gone private, the opposite happened: people started sharing their blueprints WORLD WIDE.

Forget frontiers, and competition for the best product, here we talk about having the best design possible for a public object made by "people" (from 7 to 77 years old as Hergé would say in "Tintin" comics).

Take for example the COVID19 crisis. To document this a bit, even, I'll tell my story:

Confined in Portugal away from big cities, I was alone with 2 Repraps and my PC. Not always connected, bills were a problem... I couldn't sell objects as usual, only had like 10 objects ordered in 6 months, so I had plenty of time, perfect time to level up my gaming toons... but instead of playing online, I designed several things like my breathing mask.

I started helping the fight against the Covid19. Read all about masks and joined a discord server of volunteers. I asked a few questions and found a nice idea no-one thought about: a 2D mask with only 3mm height for the pins used to deform the printed shape ! (you assemble it quickly by snapping together 6 "buttons" pins)

The webmasters of stop-postillon.fr noticed me and added my mask to their website ! I was very happy and proud ! I leveled up intellectually instead of arma3 KOTH where I'm already 172...

Offering the "design" is not possible every time I design something but I try to publish cool things.

If you like my work, you can support me so I would work non-stop on open-source objects. I opened a Patreon account not long time ago, it's also a new way of supporting creative people. Perfect for freelancers. Check it out if you have time, there's many cool stuff on Patreon.com !

In conclusion, remember that 3D-printing is nice, is huge, but on top of it there is OPEN-SOURCE HARDWARE !
